We believe that participatory learning and decision-making should be accessible, affordable, and fun. We love to learn new things, exchange ideas, engage in brave conversations, and test theoretical models of restorative practices in the real world.
That’s why we design and host events that provide our learning community with regular opportunities for discovery, analysis, and praxis. We hope you’ll join us for the constellation of Building a New Reality events. See below for more information.
On the second Saturday of each month, join BANR founder Ted Wachtel and company for a lively 75-minute conversation and discussion series. The event are held on Saturdays , beginning at 12:00 Noon EST (UTC-4) and closing at 1:15 PM. Tickets are $10 and proceeds benefit the BANR Foundation’s charitable projects.
The first half of each event consists of a presentation. The latter half of the program we invite you to participate in optional small group discussions with fellow attendees. We look forward to you joining us!

What Is a Global Local Investment Association?
In this event, Ted Wachtel examines a third topic from his new book, A Kinder, Gentler Capitalism: Enterprise in a New Reality. Here he will explains his proposal for a Global Local Investment Association — a collaboration of non-profit organizations and individual volunteers who can influence policy at every level of society — despite lacking official authority. Thinking globally, but acting locally, the association and its local chapters may choose to create citizen assemblies to make recommendations — after carefully studying the issues. These popular assemblies, whose delegates are chosen by random lottery, will constitute the world’s largest democratic “think-tank.” The latter half of the event provides optional small group conversations on the topic.
